Evaluate your commercial website and be successful.

For your website to be successful you must know who your intended website audience is, what the goal of your web site is, and how the attainment of that goal will be measured. Without this knowledge, it will be hard to achieve success.

Mailto
Email addresses should not appear on any pages because spammers harvest email addresses from web pages. Some people use various methods for obscure the email address from "robots" while maintaining there readability to humans. I opt for "Contact" forms whenever possible, who knows what day someone builds a better robot that can read your obscured email address.

Orphaned pages
Orphaned pages are pages that do not contain any links back to it's parent or to the rest of the site.

Page titles
Every page should have a unique and sensible title. This is not only useful to humans it is better for search engines placements and on-line directories. The title should be worded so as to optimize how it displays in the task bar when the browser window is minimized.

Broken Links
Broken links are unprofessional, like having a coffee stain on the chair you put out for customers.

Custom 404 Page
A custom 404 page is a more polite way of telling visitors that the page they requested is not available. It can be a simply "Sorry" page or it can be use contextual information to suggest or redirect visitors to other content.

Spelling & Grammar
The most obvious and also to most easily overlooked. The web site should be proof read for spelling, grammar, and also for industry terms that might not be familiar to everyone.
